From the Maxwell Equations to the Plane Wave

Abstract - This part is not vitally important for working with polarimetric techniques on SAR data. But if you are interested what a electromagnetic wave is, why the electrical field is coupled with the magnetic field, and so on these pages might be worthwhile reading. At least, they are quite useful to impress people. Print them out and put them somewhere, where the person you want to impress is bound to see it sooner or later. But be careful, if the person you want to impress is a mathematician or a physicist you will end up in a very long and very boring conversation ;o)
